EUROPEAN UNION INFRASTRUCTURE-RELATED PROJECTS IN NAIROBI
This morning I hosted a Delegation of the European Union to Kenya on infrastructure-related projects they’re undertaking in Nairobi.
The delegation comprised of Mr. Walter Tretton, Head of Infrastructure – Energy, Transport, Jean-Noel Gangloff and Anne Chaussavoine, Program Managers Infrastructure Section and Juliet Chelimo, Assistant Program Manager Infrastructure Section.
They briefed me on the status of various projects funded by the EU including:
1. The Nairobi missing links and non-motorised transport facilities project.
2. The Nairobi bus rapid transit network project
3. The Nairobi city Energy-from-Waste plant project
4. The Nairobi Water Project comprising the construction of two water transmission pipelines and the extension of water distribution and sewer networks
I pledged my administration’s full support and the necessary political will which was the delegation’s main desirable.
This is to see to the timely completion of the projects, while ensuring humane processes that do not infringe on people’s rights especially where resettlement and livelihoods (businesses) are concerned.
